More than 2.7 million people have registered to vote in the upcoming Tigray state elections, according to the BBC.

Tigray State Electoral Commissioner, Muluwerk Kidanemariam, said 2,740,888 people have registered to register in Tigray since last week.

People who were unable to register last week were required to register on weekends; The commissioner said voter registration has now been completed.

The campaign is expected to end on Friday.
