Preparations are underway to repatriate 2,000 Ethiopians from Saudi Arabia: Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it has completed the necessary preparations to repatriate 2,000 Ethiopians from Saudi Arabia.
It is said that it is working with the Saudi government to repatriate the refugees.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 2,000 Ethiopian refugees will be repatriated between September 8, 2013 (E.C) and October 6, 2013(E.C).
Between April and July of 2020, 3,500 people in critical condition returned from Saudi Arabia.
Between May 2017 and March 2020, more than 40,000 Ethiopians arrived in Saudi Arabia, the statement said.
He said the repatriation and rehabilitation of Ethiopians requires the coordination of several government institutions.
In addition to Saudi Arabia, it is working with stakeholders to repatriate Ethiopian refugees from Beirut and Yemen.
