Statement and decision of the Executive Committee of the Tigray National Regional State regarding the emergency meeting of the House of Federation of the FDRE
In order to implement the decision of the Tigray National Regional State Council, the FDRE Constitution and the Tigray National Regional State, to hold the 6th round of regional elections in accordance with the constitution, all stakeholders have their due role and responsibilities. They are doing it with courage and determination. As a result, pre-election activities are currently being completed in accordance with the law and order. All that remains is to hold elections and form a government at the discretion of the people.
However, the Speaker of the House of Federation of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) has stated in a letter that the people of Tigray will be forced to suspend their elections or face legal action. However, the Tigray National Regional State Council responded explicitly to the illegal letter. However, the FDRE House of Federation is still holding an emergency meeting with an unusual agenda and agenda.
It is important to note here that the Tigray National Regional State Council, in its open letter to the Speaker of the Legislative Council of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, unequivocally stated that any decision to disrupt the 6th regional elections will not be accepted. It should be known. When you have to encourage and support the people to elect their own leaders, it is shameful and anti-democratic to think that you will not be able to hold elections. As the people of Tigray and the National Regional State pay close attention to the prevention and control of the corona virus, the 6th Regional Election will be held with great enthusiasm, determination and open participation. It should be noted that the risks and consequences are serious. Therefore, the Executive Council of the Tigray National Regional State has issued the following decisions.
- We reaffirm that the 6th round of regional elections, which will be held in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Tigray National Regional State, will not stop for a second.
- If the FDRE House of Federation decides to suspend or obstruct the 6th regional election of the people of Tigray, it should be noted that it has declared war on the people of Tigray. We therefore strongly urge the House of Federation to refrain from making such an unforgivable decision.
- We would like to make it clear to both friend and foe that the FDRE House of Federation and the Prime Minister of the Federal Government are responsible for all the damage and damage caused by the response of the House of Federation.
- Distinguished people of Tigray !!
Be prepared for any interference by the federal government or any other force to disrupt the 6th round of elections, which is a major manifestation of your self-determination, and be ready to record our imminent victory today as yesterday. - Distinguished Ethiopian Nationalities and Peoples as well as the Federalist Forces !! The purpose of the 6th regional election, which the people of Tigray are exercising their constitutional right to self-determination, is to establish a legitimate government through elections. - All the national institutions that have been established to respect and uphold the FDRE Constitution and to have a solid foundation and depth of the federal democratic system. -We call on you to fulfill your governmental responsibilities.
- We call on the international community to provide the necessary assistance to the people of Tigray in the 6th round of regional elections, to condemn the interference in the election, and to fulfill its responsibility to put pressure on those who wish to intervene.
- The current crisis in the country will be solved only by dialogue with all stakeholders in accordance with the rule of law and order, and by trying to solve it, by putting pressure on the country. Therefore, we say that anyone who intends to use the constitutional right of the people of Tigray to disrupt and disrupt the election must join hands with such a force that seeks to disrupt the people and security of Tigray.
